The opening of the exhibition was attended by about two hundred, artists, their guests and family.

The show covered a wide selection of media; prints,

graphite drawings, oils, acrylics, sculpture and stoneware.

thegallery8680 entertained a gallery full of guests and hopeful artists at the opening reception for their latest show'emerging on April 22. The 'emerging' show features regional local artists who are breaking into the art scene, and were hand selected by the gallery director, Robyn Parker Feehan.

The term 'emerging' in the art world means that the artists have limited experience showing their work in professional galleries, but it dosen't mean they are beginning artists. Each of the ten artists have a unique style and voice, and the qualiy of their work is top-notch.

Frisco artist Tom Freeman has been painting for years and has a large body of oil paintings to his credit. He has been an art dealer himself, but only recently has he begun to steadily promote his work.

"When I walk into his home and see his wonderful collection of artwork I want to share it with the world," commends Feehan. "Tom's paintings of Paris and Italy are truly collectibles."

Artists generally love the creative aspect of their job, but may find it difficult to devote the time and energy required to market their work. thegallery8680 provides the solution.

"The purpose behind the gallery is to give artists an opportunity to show their work to the public. " I feel a greater awarness of original art and its value needs to be seen by our residents," explains Feehan.

Newcomer: Melissa Winton was approached by Robyn at the Frisco Arts in The Square Festival this spring. Winton's absracts are personal depictions of times in her young life while growing up in Florida.

"Robyn personally came by to view my paintings displayed in my booth and invited me to the gallery show. I was excited by her enthusiasm for my art," says Winton.

Andrew Williams, a young photographer from Dallas who is studying in New York, has several 20x30" photographs in the show. Showing at thegallery8680 offers him professional experience, and also helps him to establish his presence in the art market. Because of this show, two of his photographs caught the eye of collectors and now have new homes.

Celeste Seitz, a New Orleans native, began showing her work in Frisco earlier this year. Her ethereal landscapes create thought provoking moments through subtle, earthy colors. "Robyn has assembled a very diverse, beautiful collection of artwork for this show." says Seitz. "I am grateful and humbled to be among the artists displayed."

Other artits featured in the 'emerging' exhibit are painters Deanna Williams, Barbara Dubovsky, Monica Fallini, and Asher Feehan, mixed media artists Walter Kane and conceptual painter Benje Feehan.

The opening reception was well attended by art enthisiasts and collectors from all over the North Texas area, and so far five of the works have sold. "it is encouraging to see local people love and appreciate the work of the artists," says Feehan.

In order to accomadate daytime guests; thegallery8680 will host a free lunchtime reception on Wednesday, May 18 from 11.30am -3.30pm. Everyone from the community is invited.

"Our hope is that this reception is attended by the press, designers, councilmen, lovers of art and anyone who wants to see art become a part of the City of Frisco" explains Feehan. "What a wonderful way to spend your lunchtime".

Come and enjoy this free movie event with fellow artists. We will be watching the life story of Georgia O'keefe a documentary . It looks at the development of her as an artist and as a person. Her husband Stieglitz an American photographer is also depicted in this made for TV movie. Although we do not see enough of her work we will walk away knowing that great artists are just people.

thegallery8680 opened another great show this past month, as it continues to be a forerunner for the visual arts here in Frisco. This latest exhibition titled "Celebrating Women Artists" opened on February 11th and featured the works of ten highly accomplished artists from Texas. the show had broad appeal with representational and contemporary subjects, a;; with a unique female perspective.

Gallery Director, Robyn Parker Feehan has assembled a cast of artists that are well know for their quality work, and each leaves a mark on the show.

Collin College art professor, Eilene Carver, whose work observes the contradiction of women.s roles within domestic spaces, makes a big impression upon entering the gallery. her large scale oil painting and works on paper capture your attention with their detail and tecnical skill, as the symbolism used in her work keeps the viewr intrigued.

"My work is generated from personal experience and observartion," says carver. "Since I was a child i have had a certain affinity for interior spaces. I observed a great many contradictions about the role of women in these domestic spaces. The matriarchs of my family were strong minded and accomplished: yet their strenghts were well concealed within the outward trappings of a "good wife and mother".

The theme of home life and the roles of women are consistent throughout the show, but just as imprtasnt to these artists is the brilliant use of color.

Barbara Mason, a nationally acclaimed artists and resident of Frisco, is known for her vibrant palette as her water color comes alive on her canvases. Her work is featured in the side gallery and complimented by the richly textured works of Danna Gann, also of Frisco.

Another prominent theme is the artists love for nature.

From South Texas monica Fallini's colorful floral landscapes, too Nancy Lawerence's love for the Texas Hill country, an appreciation for the beauty of creation is evident.

Jan Partin, a photographer from Dallas, explains, "The outdoors is a sacred place for me and provides me with spititual and creative energy."

With this inspiration, these artits also inspire others. Elizabeth Padgett, an art teacher hopes her work will represent to the viewer the grace and majesty of her God whilst Elizabeth Trosper wants her work to provoke others to creativity.

Misty Foster is always busy developing and exploring her own art to bring vibrant energetic canvases. Marie Renfro wows us in her mastery of collage painting.

"We hope you will join us at future shows to become famialr with original art and make a choice to be apart of the talented local art scene in your city."

Thursday November 11.2010 - thegallery8680 re-opened its doors for a new era of the arts in Frisco TX. Located at 8680 Main street. thegallery8680 brings a new space for artists to exhibit their work, creates another venue for the artist and art collectors to gather, and draws the public into a gallery close to home.
thegallery8680 exhibits original art by both emerging and mid-career artists, who are currently working to express fresh ideas in an intelligent and well executed manner. When planing the venue, Creative Director Robyn Parker Feehan, envisioned a gallery that is, "uninhibited by preconceived notions and theories of the conceptual art movement of the past, in the realization of work that deals with issues that reflect contemporary society concerns and documents today"s reality.

Originally from New Zealand, Robyn and her husband Glenn have always had a vision to facilitate the artist. They have lived in Sydney, Australia and Massachusetts, before moving to Frisco to plant C3 TrueNORTH Church. One thing that drew Robyn and her family to Frisco is the city's intent to make the public aware of the arts. They visualized embracing the arts not just in music, but also in the verbal conversation that one can have with a painting or sculpture.

"The artist is able to provoke many conversations of speech, heart matter and thought," explains Robyn. When they opened the doors of C3TrueNORTH church in 2009, Robyn's dream of opening an art gallery in the same space was realized. thegallery8680 hosted it inaugural exhibit in june 2009, featuring emerging artists for the Collin College Preston Ridge Campas. The opening night was great success, attended by over 120 patrons, and set the pace for future shows.

After taking sometime to make alterations to the modern space, thegallery8680 relaunched this fall with two shows in October. Kids'n Srt, directed by Shannon Jamail, was the first exhibit in the newly re-opened space early October. Parent and children from all over the area enjoyed a colorful exhibit on the crisp white gallery walls.

The current exhibition titled "six" opened on October 29.2010, and features six artists from the Frisco area. The show curated by Feehan, is a brilliant mix of styles, from artist who are as equally diverse. The opening show was well attended, and several paintings have already sold from this show. The exhibit runs through the month of November.
With a clear compelling mission to acquire, exhibit and preserve both modern and contempory art, while "embracing the voice of the artist," Robyn is currently planing future exhibits and art events. On Friday, November 19, the gallery8680 will host a viewing of "Beautiful Losers", which features a loose-knit community of young outsider artists in the 1990's, who have gone on to make their mark in the art world.

Recognizing the efforts and accomplishments of the various arts organizations in this community, thegallery8680 wants to contribute to the growing success of the visual arts. "There has been much progression for the arts in Frisco. The Frisco Association of Arts is here supporting the arts also the Visual Arts Guild is active within the community. Frisco has numerous sculptures throughout its streets with its sights set on a sculpture park and of course we are blessed with the sculpture exhibited in the Hall Office Park exhibiting works that have been sought from all over the USA. There is also the tireless work of the Arts of Collin County," explains Robyn.

The intention of the gallery is to draw the attention toward the arts, artists and their voice. Unless you look at art it is hard to appreciate. The purpose of thegallery8680 is to facilitate excellence and awareness of art, and to stimulate and promote the Arts in Frisco.

i sat in the gallery today for four hours yet no one came in: i looked at the walls and thought this is the beginning, this is a place where art will grow from and i will establish a hunger for art.... i looked at the art on my walls: it is true art, real art, art created by the individual, expressing a view, expressing a moment in time, expressing something that we may all need to see.

we have always wanted to establish an art gallery within the walls of our church however never had the space to
do so until a major turn of events which rocked our world last year. we were meeting in a wedding chapel each sunday great place but we only had it for a few hours on a sunday. a year ago we were given notice it was to be sold and we would have to find new premises. we did in the first day of looking. a total mess that needed so much work to make it look presentable. we did a few days of major overhaul and were sitting in there on the 3rd august. come september after having our beautiful daughter whitney married to an incredible man of heart and worship peter james bixby we begin thinking we have our own space now we can think about having gallery space. inspired from the voice of benj as we sat in the moonlight of the northshore.. oahu. there was a small room in the front. well time passed we wrote a gallery statement but did not progress much further than that. time came to do even more changing; a wall came down, ugly cubicles came down, new walls went up. then the call for artists came; asher took a piece of paper to his art class and we got ten names of young artists. the work did not stop from that day to prepare the space for the gallery which has taken over 150 feet of wall.. the first exhibition was set in place. named students@work it was a phenomenal success: with many encouraging words from artists in the local community. we are here now and are preparing for our second exhibition "art in summer". come back as i will continue to update with photos of all the last year of happeings.
